stars shine

Looks like I've been MIA on my blog for a while.

I am well.

Usually bored. But well.

Friends.
If I haven't heard your voice for a while, I think it may be time to catch up.

Passive Agression

You are the most passive aggressive person I have ever met. Why must you treat me like a young child and talk to me like I don't understand anything?

I have been advised to ask a passive aggressive person a lot of questions, try to understand them and allow them to understand me. But you don't even give me the chance to open my mouth.  My opinions or questions are not validated by you at all.

I know that there isn't much I can do but try to talk to you about it, ask more questions but more importantly, pray pray pray! I can talk and talk and talk about it, but only God can change hearts.

I hope one day in the near future, we will be able to sit down like mature adults to just talk and find a suitable solution. 'Talk' as in, conversation, back and forth, both parties get to voice their opinions and feel valued.

The noise a heart makes

Yesterday I thought I heard something that could potentially make me sad.

I went "My heart is breaking: crunch crunch crunch".

I laughed cause my heart makes a crunching noise, whose heart crunches?

I am no longer sad.

When a physical body is hurting

Tonight, we were meeting some friends for dinner, and two of them came late. When they arrived, they looked extremely somber and very troubled.

They explained that they saw a homeless lady on their way over to the restaurant and was overcome by compassion. They stopped to talk her and used this chance to buy her dinner and genuinely get to know her. As they spoke to her, they got a chance to hear her story.

Although her story was heartbreaking, what got them down were the feelings they had of helplessness.
How can we help her? Her troubles are so real, yet we do not know what we can do.

At the dinner table, there were a lot of decisions about how the latecomers should be feeling. It was brought up that the Lord is sovereign and therefore, the lady's situation is in the hands of the Lord and there is a reason why she is in the economic situation she is. Someone also brought up that although it is nice to help meet some one's physical needs, the 'bottom-line' is sharing the gospel. This individual said that even if we were to help this lady meet her physical needs, if she didn't know Jesus, it 'doesn't mean anything'.

There is no question that I believe the Lord is sovereign, that the Gospel is for everyone and also that Jesus is the only source of true hope, but will these assumptions help us relate to people like this women and help them get to know the love of Jesus? Will assuming that when they hear about Jesus they will come to an acceptance of their situation and want people to know Jesus?

I believe that when the physical body is hurting, that means the image of God is hurting. The Bible says that we have been created in the image of God, and that image is one with a whole and healthy body. Jesus had the compassion to heal people and I believe he still wants to heal us now. Although compassion doesn't mean that all people will be healed, I think that by helping and addressing the physical body, this can be used as a tool to show God's love and minister to people.

What do you think? Is helping people with their physical situations just a means to converse with a hurting person, or is it a vital step in helping an individual come to the Lord?

Sing K

Went to karaoke tonight for the first time in Canada and since EA.

The turnout was better than we expected and just had an awesome time.

Thank you boys and girls for fun times filled with singing, yelling that doesn't pass as singing and dancing!

Perhaps in the near future we shall do this again.

blogs seem so selfish

Rediscover You

I need to just admit
My faith is paper thin
I'm feeling so burned out
On religion

I say an empty prayer
I sing a tired song
I need to just admit that the passion's gone
And I want to get it back

You told me
Look for You and I will find
So I'm here
Like I'm searching for the first time
Revive me, Jesus
Make this cold heart start to move
Help me rediscover You

I want to learn to pray
The way that David prayed
I want my soul to burn when I hear Your name
I want to feel like new
I want to hunger for you
Bring me back to life like only You can do
Cause I don't want to stay the same

Lord, I want to be Yours today
I want to know the passion of the saints
And how they were changed

I want to burn for You
Bring me back to life, Jesus
Help me rediscover You

Creeping towards that breaking point

Being here not only means I don't get to see my friends. It also means I can't just pick up the phone and call them.

Sometimes all you need is to hear is a
friendly, understanding voice on the other end.

When you are all riled up and have no one to talk to, those thoughts shoot every-which-way in your head till you rack up a good head-ache and an unsettled heart.

Loneliness

Sitting here, I am reminded how it feels to be lonely.

The blaring of the stereo cannot drown out the silence in this house.

The whirring of the heaters is all I hear.

How I long to hear the voices of those I care about.

There are those I can pick up the phone and call, and those I will never be able to reach.

The thought that I will never hear his voice again terrifies me.

And suddenly I feel it..

I can feel the warmth.

It is not coming from the humming vents, but instead, from the embrace of the one that created the world.

A gentle reminder that I am not alone, but instead under care of the kind and loving shepard.

There are days when it feels like the loneliness will consume you. Days where the silence can only be filled with the thoughts that race around your head, gnawing at you, draining you. But there is a place of refuge. And this place is in arms of Jesus. Those are the same arms that reached from one side of the cross to the other, proclaiming he loves you enough to die for you.

Life is a never-ending battle of unknowns, but there is one things I know never changes. His never changing love for us. He died so that we can have life.
